Gardener's Cottage Blog
Welcome to the blog for Gardeners Cottage, Blakeney
Enjoyed a trip for lunch to Back To The Garden near Holt at the weekend. It is a massive & very impressive barn conversion just outside Letherinsett which houses a fantastic farm shop and cafe. It is worth a trip just to look at the amazing beams and the enormous light fitting in the cafe. If you are staying in or near Blakeney it is well worth a visit. We had a lovely cream tea to finish with a fruit scone with clotted cream and jam, and real leaf tea served in a teapot. Can highly recommend. There is plenty of parking and also lots of outside seating in a very pretty garden that you can use in summer. Children are welcome but unfortunately the dogs had to stay in the car.
After a very busy Christmas and new year the cottage has been empty this week and we have taken the opportunity to give it a good spring clean. Janaury is a quieter month in Blakeney and a great time to get out and enjoy the wonderful North Norfolk coast & countryside without the crowds. Wrap up warm and head out for a walk along the coastal path to Cley and finish at the very popular Artemis antiques cafe which comes highly recommended for cake and coffee. Walk back to Blakeney to the comfort and cosiness of a lovely warm cottage, and then cosy up in front of the log burner with a book in the snug at Gardeners cottage. Bring your dogs to join in the fun as Gardeners cottage & Blakeney is dog friendly

What a wonderful autumn its been so far
We have enjoyed a really mild October on the North Norfolk coast and the autumn colours have been fantastic. The weather looks set to be a little cooler for November so we have filled the log basket at the cottage so you can cosy up in the snug and enjoy the log burner.
We have had a wonderful September so far on the North norfolk coast this year with temperatures last week reaching 30 degrees centigrade. Blakeney has been buzzing with people enjoying the wondeful weather and the cottage has been busy. Last week we had a honeymoon couple staying at the cottage, with their 18 week old labrador puppy Spencer who enjoyed learning to swim.Read reviews of Gardener's Cottage Blakeney including our newlyweds

Thank you very much for a second half term stay at this beautiful property. This time the weather wasn't kind, but we still had a wonderful stay, and we were always so grateful to return to the cosiness and comfort of Gardeners Cottage. We'll be back again !!
Thankfully the weather for the weekend looks much better, as we have another set of guests going in this afternoon.
Fabulous weather, bluebells and another 60th birthday party
12/5/16 Its been a lovely sunny start to May, with wall to wall sunshine and high temperatures on the North Norfolk coast. The bluebells at Blickling woods are at their very best this month and well worth a visit. The National Trust cafes at Blickling Hall
now serve really good coffee and lots of home made cakes & sandwiches. Can highly recommend their cream teas.

A total of 18 friends and family have enjoyed this gorgeous house and garden, ( not all at once ) and everything has been perfect, not least the absolutely glorious weather. Bit of an 9/10/15 Aga saga
Bit of a hectic week this week as we received a message via the Blakeney Cottage Company mid week, to say the guests where having problems cooking with the Aga, as it did not seem to be getting hot enough to cook in the ovens, and the temperature was showing as very low. The hobs were still hot. After checking all the usual things we could not find an obvious cause so phoned Simon Ridgeway, who is a local Aga service engineer in North Norfolk
and who actually originally installed the Aga for us. He immediately said it was most likely that a fan had gone, and that he would be able to pop over the next day and replace it. Thankfully he did, and it was, so the Aga is now back to full heat, and cooking roast dinners and cooked breakfasts again. Luckily the BBQ had worked very well during the Aga crisis and the weather had been warm and sunny, but barbequing in October can be a bit on the chilly side in the evenings.

March is a lovely month to visit the North Norfolk coast and to see the incredible snowdrops at Little Walsingham Abbey as well as lots of spring bulbs and baby lambs in the fields. Spring is in full flow this month with snowdrops, cyclamen , crocusses & daffodils flowering in the cottage garden and this week we had our first blossom on one of our flowering trees.
